What is foil blocking?
Foil blocking makes the most of a letterpress-style block, imprinting the design onto the paper. Rather than carrying ink, there is a film that is ultra-thin and has a foil pigment, which is fed into the process. The block will then be heated, and the foil is released when the block is pressed onto the paper and a bond is formed. This will leave the stock printed with a metallic, debossed imprint. We can enhance the design further by adding extra pressure to create a debossing effect or using a specialist die and hard counterforce, we can produce stunning embossing which creates an extra dimension to your project. Obviously, with foil blocking you will still achieve a luxury product.

This includes satin, matte, holographic, gloss, metallics, and much more. The creativity is limitless when it comes to the options that are available here. Plus, as the foil is opaque, you do not have to worry about there being any show-through of the paper colour. The final result is one of sheer beauty.

We can handle sheet sizes of up to SRA3, allowing us to use this process on almost any project. Our first machine is a hand-operated KSF 3 Series Platen Press which has a maximum foil image area of A5 with bleed. This is a very versitle machine which is quick to set up and quick to print which is ideal for the jobs with a smaller foil image area.
Our second machine which is our newest edition to our plant list is a hand operated ProPress 310 flat bed foil blocking machine which has a maxium foil image area of 310 x 210mm. This machine is geared up for the bigger foil blocking job which gives us more scope to take on larger work.
